I offer fun wildlife photography workshops at various locations in London, Surrey and Sussex to teach you the basics of landscape photography and much more!
These digital photography workshops are suitable for both beginners and serious amateurs.
The workshops are run in small groups (maximum 8 people) so that you have ample opportunity to ask questions and learn from fellow enthusiasts.
For the latest schedule please have a look at the Workshop page in the Shop.
In addition to my regular schedule I will be partnering with Denbies Wine Estate (near Dorking, Surrey) from May 2015 to run Photography Experience Days on the Estate. We can also cater for bespoke corporate/team building events so please get in touch if this would be of interest to you.
On these group photography workshops you will learn by doing, but in terms of theory we may cover any or all of the following topics:
shutter speed, aperture, ISO & relation between them — shutter priority/aperture priority — exposure compensation — common types of cameras & sensors — types of lenses — depth of field — manual focus vs. autofocus — hyperfocal distance — metering methods — the sunny F/16 rule — histogram — colour temperature & white balance — RAW vs. JPEG — filters — previsualisation — composition — digital processing and printing
If there is anything you’d like particular help with, please let me know in advance and I’ll do my best to make sure we cover it during the workshop.
Although we take our photography seriously, we also aim to enjoy ourselves! The workshop is a great opportunity to meet and learn from like-minded enthusiasts.
My group photography workshops will give you a valuable insight into wildlife photography, so that you will be prepared to make the most of future photographic opportunities, whether it’s taking pictures of bumblebees in your back garden or elephants on safari!
All levels of experience welcome.
Please let me know if the terms “shutter speed” and “aperture” mean nothing to you so that we can arrange to meet slightly before the workshop officially starts.
Camera, lenses, tripod/monopod (if using lenses above 400 mm or a 200-400 mm lens), weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable walking shoes (Wellies for early morning shoots and rainy weather). It could also be useful to bring your camera’s manual, if you have it.
Full joining instructions will be given on booking.
Adriaan certainly knows his stuff. He is very patient and knowledgeable. It was good to be with someone who knows the area and wildlife habits. A great morning, well worth it, got some lovely images. Recommended 🙂

All-in-all I thought the workshop was terrific and I would have no hesitation to recommend you to others.

A huge thank you to Adriaan and the lovely people at the British Wildlife Centre for a fabulous day of photography. I had a great time meeting other like-minded group members, and having Adriaan’s advice, expertise, guidance and support was of real benefit. It was an amazing experience to step inside the enclosures and get up close to the gorgeous animals – a reminder that the natural world is precious and we must love and protect it. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone considering it. Thank you Adriaan!
