It is in poetry that the Universe reveals itself to us at its most mysterious and beautiful. Living as we do in data-saturated societies with impossible standards of perfection, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that it is the absence of information that creates space for the imagination to play, and that the beauty of things is often revealed in their brokenness, fragility and imperfection. It is this fragility that most resonates with the heart’s knowledge that at some level life is pain and — through love, beauty and humour — reconciles us to our tragic state.
My artistic mission is to capture this poetic vision in the two dimensions of photographs. I believe that poetry is all around us and we only need to “tune in” to the right “frequency” to appreciate the ephemeral, immense beauty of the Universe.
