This picture shows sand blowing from left to right over the remains of the Helvetia, a Norwegian barque which became stranded on the beach at Rhossili (on the Gower Coast in South Wales) 130 years ago. As well as highlighting the on-going process of erosion driven by sand and sea, the picture also acquires a deeper meaning in signifying the struggle of humans against the elements, and shows that man remains vulnerable to the forces of nature despite his pretentions to supremacy. The picture forms part of a series entitled “Skeletons” which explores the remains of human artefacts along coastlines in different parts of the world.
“Helvetia” was Highly Commended in the ArtGemini International Art Competition 2017.

Lambda C-Type printing gives true continuous tone, ultra sharp photographic images with crisp and precise edge to edge printing and absolutely no distortion. C-Type prints bring the darkroom in the digital age: true photographic prints are made using chromogenic materials and processes but with the light source coming from a digital file, rather than directly from a negative. Light sensitive silver halide paper is exposed using an LED or laser light source and put through a conventional chemical developing process.
Dibond is an aluminium composite comprised of two ultra-thin 0.3mm aluminium panels sandwiched around a polyethylene core. Dibond is lightweight, rigid and will not delaminate or warp due to the material’s low thermal expansion. These properties make it a perfect permanent mounting solution for (particularly larger) photographs.
The sizes given above indicate the actual image sizes. Paper sizes may be considerably larger, depending on the image size, to accommodate signing of the print on the front, to provide protection for the image, and to enable contemporary-style framing.
Prints are typically sold unframed. I can arrange top quality framing if required. Prints are framed in a contemporary style: drymounted in a box frame with a spacer to keep the picture away from the glass. A more traditional style of framing with single or double mounts can also be arranged. I work with top quality Guilded framer so you can be assured of a stunning finished product that will stand the test of time. Please contact me in advance of ordering to discuss your requirements. Please note that delivery of framed prints may incur an additional charge, depending on your location.
Since all my products are lovingly handcrafted and made to order, please allow two to three weeks for delivery in the UK (allow longer if framing is required); international deliveries could take longer but I will do my best to get it to you as soon as possible.
I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not satisfied for any reason you can return the item within 30 days for a full refund (terms and conditions apply). Please see the returns policy for full details.
Prices are given in Pounds Sterling (GBP); if paying in another currency (e.g. USD or EUR) the currency conversion will be applied at the point of online payment.
